No one wants to get sick. Not only do you have trouble doing the things you need to get done, but you also suffer from the effects of the disease. A runny nose, fevers, and headaches are just some of the things you’ve got to worry about when you’re sick. We try our best to keep the sniffles away by making sure we don’t stay in the rain or avoid infected individuals. Luckily for us, we have a built-in defense system that keeps you healthy: The Immune system. To stay healthy, you need to boost your immune system.

Boosting Your Immune System To the Max

Your immune system is what makes sure that you get through the day without catching a cold from your office mates or that one random person in Starbucks. It’s made up of many cells that respond to any incoming threats that might make you sick. Many of these cells dissolve or devour these threats before you even feel that you’re sick. However, your immune system will only work properly if you give it the proper care it needs to function.

Eat a Balanced Diet

Needless to say, food is something that everyone enjoys. But the biggest problem that many people face is that they might not be getting the right amount of vitamins or nutrients from their dietary choices. A great way to boost your immune system is to eat the right kind of food. Food rich in vitamins and minerals like fruit and vegetables is high on the list of must-have food. Vitamins like vitamin C from citrus fruits are especially powerful for keeping your immune system in top condition.

Food rich in preservatives like processed meats should be eaten very rarely as some of the chemicals that preserve these types of food can hurt your health. The number of artificial ingredients in many of this factory processed food can be detrimental to your health in general so minimize their consumption and you should be good.

Avoid Bad Habits

If you’re a fan of smoking or drinking the night away, then we have some bad news for you. Certain habits that you enjoy might be slowly destroying your immune system. Smoking, in particular, is very dangerous for your immune system. The tar and nicotine in the cigarettes you smoke will make it much harder for your immune system to fight off infections and diseases. This is due to the tar making your lungs less effective at gathering oxygen.

Oxygen is needed by the cells in your body and your immune system needs oxygen to produce more phagocytes, lymphocytes and white blood cells that are responsible for defending your body. The red blood cells responsible for transporting vitamins and minerals around your body is also affected if you don’t have enough oxygen in your body.

Exercise Regularly

Regular exercise is something not everyone can do often. But it’s been proven countless times that regular exercise is necessary to keep your body in top condition. You will feel better and be able to do more as you get used to your exercise regimen and it’s also been proven to fight depression. The best part is that many aspects of your body work hand in hand during exercise to get rid of contaminants in your body that hampers the immune system’s job.
